Who We Are

Loving Hearts Childcare and Development Center was Incorporated in March of 2007 in Pontiac, MI. Under the Leadership of La-Keesha Dorkins. Loving Hearts was created due to Damon and La-Keesha Dorkins childcare need along with their hunger and drive for community service. Damon and La-Keesha Dorkins married and started a family in 2002.  Shortly after, La-Keesha went back to work as a Medical rep and Damon as a City of Pontiac Police officer. With both having to work the afternoon shift, they needed to find a childcare center that would accommodate their need. All the childcare centers  in the city closed shortly after business hours and were not open on the weekends. This eventually became a huge strain for their family.

La-Keesha vividly remembers dropping her children off at a babysitter each day feeling uncomfortable. She would often think “my babies need me, and I can’t keep doing this”. Damon and La-Keesha owned several rental homes and La-Keesha decided to turn one of their rentals into a home childcare. In less than a year, La-Keesha gained much trust in the community taking care of children and had created a waiting list. La-Keesha never forgot how she felt as a parent while she was working and remembered there were no child care centers open in the evenings and on weekends. That’s when her heart told her what she needed to do. La-Keesha opens a curriculum-based child care center that accommodates two shifts and is open 6 Days a week (Monday-Saturday). La-Keesha found a way to bottle up her care, concerns, memories, emotions, and love into what produced the number one (#1) child care center in Pontiac, MI. “Loving Hearts Childcare and Development Center”. From that center, La-Keesha Dorkins gave rise to the motto “Where Taking Care of Your Treasure is Our Pleasure”.
